Winner - Henley’s Propellers (New Zealand)
Congratulations to
Henley’s Propellers, the latest winner of the Tom Breiwick Award for
their development of the KIWI Shaft Seal. The Tom Breiwick award is
presented annually to the Thordon Distributor best demonstrating
outstanding ability in the area of providing innovative and technically
superior solutions incorporating Thordon products to his customers. The
award will be presented at the 2008 Global Distributor Conference in
Niagara Falls, Canada.
After 6 years of
selling lip seals and 9 years selling face seals, the experience gained
and the issues learned from their customers led to Henley’s staff
developing a safe and reliable shaft sealing solution that solves their
customer’s problems. The introduction of the “KIWI” Shaft Seal which
uses a Thordon XL bearing along with their “EASIFLOW” Stern tube system
that also included a number of either Thordon COMPAC or XL bearings
provided a complete
one design
stern tube / shaft seal package for vessel’s constructed in either
Steel, Aluminum, GRP or Timber. The ‘one type fits all’ system offered
safety, NO maintenance, ease of installation, a lightweight nose cone
ensuring minimum shaft wear and a compact length that can be adjusted.
The design consists of a single piece stainless steel housing with a
single lip seal configuration. Henley's offer these seals for 12
different shaft sizes ranging from 25.4mm to 101.6mm (1” to 4”) and
offer a 2 year or 1000 hour warranty. This
innovative solution incorporating Thordon XL bearings certainly offers a
technically superior product keeping the vessel safe and dry while
