Here is a photo of
Richard Edlin's pilothouse powersailor, Rebb'l, attracted a plenty of
attention at launch. Designed as a fast cruiser with a healthy sized rig,
Rebb'l has a lifting bulbed keel. this will provide the best of both
worlds, maximum stability under sail when down, and shallow draft
anchoring when raised.

One of Edlin's major goals was for Rebb'l to achieve 15 knots under power.
the 100hp Yanmar driving a three-bladed Flex-O-fold 20 in x 13 in
propeller powered Rebb'l to 13 knots immediately following launching, and
Edlin is convinced the other two knots will be achieved when the engine
loosens up and fine-tuning is complete. There are several other innovative
features, most notably a hinging section in the hull aft, which in lowered
position prevents squatting under power. A full test is due later this
year. |
